These cooperative programs combine the unparalleled experience of the Yellowstone Association Institute (one of the largest and most well respected field schools in the National Park System) and the accommodations, meals and activities of Yellowstone National Park Lodges.
Enjoy program time with a fun and knowledgeable naturalist from Y.A.I. on an adventure you will never forget! Yellowstone Association Members receive a $10.00 discount per person on any package.
Fine tune your Nordic skills the day before the program starts. For specific programs, our “Learn to ski” add-on includes an extra night’s lodging, a breakfast per person as well as a group ski lesson, full day ski rentals and a ski shuttle. The kids are out of school for a week, it’s time to treat your whole family to an experience of a lifetime! Explore Yellowstone’s unique winter environment with a Yellowstone Association naturalist/guide who will help you and your children enjoy adventures such as animal tracking, wildlife watching, photography cross country skiing and snowshoeing. See a bit of the interior of the park on a one day snowcoach tour to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. During this program your child/children may become Junior Rangers.
Maximum group size is 10 and activity level is rated easy.

Winter in Wonderland

The abundance of thermal features create Yellowstone's unique environment.
Moisture from those thermal features combined with the cold winter temperatures create some amazing landscapes. Because a blanket of white covers the ground, most of the larger mammals are easier to spot making winter a wildlife watchers dream. This week long educational adventure will include snowshoe and ski tours in a variety of winter habitats, including the Lamar Valley, Old Faithful and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.

Old Faithful Winter Expedition

Venture into the heart of Yellowstone on a journey through the Park's winter wilderness. Beginning at Mammoth Hot Springs, you'll travel by snowcoach to a warm and cozy base deep in the center of the Park at Old Faithful Snow Lodge. From there you will travel by snowcoach to Yellowstone's remote and spectacular winter gems - including Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and Yellowstone Lake - in search of wildlife, steaming thermal features, grand winter views and the true sense of winter wilderness. This program is primarily snowcoach based, with short easy walks on foot or snowshoe to viewpoints and thermal areas.
