Black Bears are not always black; their coats can also be cinnamon, blonde and brown. Brown colored bears are often mistaken for grizzlies, which are a much larger species. Adult black bear males weigh between 200 and 600 pounds, females between 150 and 400 pounds. Black bears feed on a variety of grasses, roots, plants and berries in addition to small rodents an animal carcasses. There are an estimated 500-600 black bears in habiting Yellowstone National Park and can be seen most anywhere inside the park at any time.
